Big Brother 18: Second Chance – Which Men Should Return?

With less than a month to go before the premiere of Big Brother 18, rumors are beginning to circulate about who will be moving into the Big Brother house this summer. Will it be all returnees? All Newbies? Or some sort of combination of the two?

My guess, we will have two more seasons of newbies, which will set us up for the most epic season of Big Brother ever; Big Brother 20:Winners. By season 20, we should have enough interesting winning houseguests to create a dream cast that will pit all (or most, sorry Adam) of the winners against each other, to see who will reign supreme as the Greatest Big Brother Player of All Time.

Another possible, and maybe more realistic option, season 18 will be Big Brother: Second Chances. This will give the producers one more chance to have their favorite houseguests (that have never won the game) be a part of their epic 20th season of winners.

One issue that casting has been running into with All Stars, is the common availability times of their “must-return winners.” No Big Brother: All-Stars would be complete without Dan, Derrick, Jun, Dr. Will, Evel Dick, Hayden M, Rachel, etc.

So, if the producers give them all two years notice, and inform them that Big Brother 20 will be a winners season, with a $1 million prize, their golden children will have an ample amount of time to clear their schedules for the summer of 2018.

That leaves us with the question of who will get their second chance to become a Big Brother champion? The following, are the 18 guys, ranked in order of least to most deserving to get their second chance.

* Sticking to the rules put in place by Survivor: Second Chancesthe houseguests that have played the game ONLY once, and never won, will be invited to be a part of the Big Brother: Second Chance cast.

Despite being a massive part of the formation of one of the most dominant alliances in Big Brother history, Matt was blindsided by his Brigade brothers, and was the only alliance member not to make the final four.

Matt was not afraid to play the game hard, and was nominated or HoH for most of his stay in the house. In fact, he played so hard that he lied to his houseguests and told them that his wife suffered from a rare disease, when in fact, she was perfectly healthy.

Being a self-proclaimed “diabolical genius” gave Matt the confidence to make big moves, but also a false sense of security within his own alliance. If Matt gets an opportunity to play again, he will likely not trust anyone, including his own alliance, which will make for some hardcore game play from one of the smartest houseguests to ever play Big Brother.

5. Hardy, BB2

Hardy became one of the breakout stars of Big Brother 2. He controlled the house right up until week 9 when he was nominated for the first time, and ultimately voted out by a single vote from Dr. Will.

Interestingly enough, Hardy won 3 HoH’s during his stay in the BB house, and every time he nominated Will. Hardy is one of the founding fathers of Big Brother, and it would be fascinating to see him play modern day BB 15 years later. If Chicken George gets a seconds chance at Big Brother, Hardy is way past due for his revenge. Plus, even a 46 year old Hardy Hill, will surely be able to hold his own against any of the strong, young dudes that Big Brother throws in a house with him.

4. Frank, BB14

Not only is Frank a challenge beast, but he is also entertaining as hell. Frank is responsible for one of the greatest lines in the history of BB. When fighting with Willie Hantz, brother of Survivor villain, Russell Hantz, Willie proclaimed that he wanted to be able to eat his fruit loops in the kitchen without feeling awkward, to which Frank replied… “eat your fu@#ing fruit loops, I ain’t worried about it.”

In addition to classic one-liners, and being one of the greatest challenge competitors to ever play the game (winning 3 POV’s and 3 HoH’s), Frank was nominated every single week that he wasn’t HoH. He did not cast a vote to evict until day 47, which is the longest any contestant has ever gone without voting. There was nothing that Frank could do to get himself out of the spotlight in season 14, and if he returned, he would likely be an immediately target again. However, this time, without the coach’s “team twist”, maybe Frank would be able to secure himself in an alliance that wasn’t as useless as Jenn, Mike Boogie, and 1st half of the game Ian.

3. Zach, BB16

Regardless of what you may feel about Zach, it is undeniable that he is one of the most memorable houseguests of all time. While it is highly unlikely that he will win the game any time soon, he may have a chance if, say, season 25 is Second Chance, which will give him time to mature and make more rational decisions. However, if season 18 is indeed a Second Chance season, Zach is a lock to be casted, but will likely not have learned from his mistakes, and will again be targeted for being untrustworthy and a loose cannon.

Either way, he will be sure to go out of his way to make sure we are entertained even more than he did in season 16. As long as Zach is still playing the game, the Big Brother: Second Chance house is bound to be explosive.

2. Roddy, BB3

Roddy all but disappeared after finishing in 6th place in season 3. He was targeted for being charismatic, charming, and a massive threat. Danielle Reyes, widely considered to be one of the greatest female houseguests to ever play the game, repeatedly called him the devil, because she knew that he was her biggest competition.

Now 14 years older than he was back in 2002, it would be surreal for any true Big Brother fan to watch a 44 year old Roddy attempt to charm the pants off his fellow houseguests and use his power of persuasion to go deep in the game. As long as Roddy did not fall into another showmance, he should be able to stay under the radar for some time, as many of the returning players would not have any clue who he is. And those that did, would likely jump at the chance to be aligned with such a Big Brother legend.

1. Eric, BB8

Eric Stein is perhaps the houseguest that got screwed over the most by production. Eric was forced into the role of the first ever “America’s Player.” However, unlike more recent “America’s Players”, Stein had to vote to evict the player that America chose to evict, try to get nominated the

houseguest that America wanted nominated, and even vote for the winner based on America’s vote. Bottom line: Eric did not have an opportunity to play the way he wanted.

In fact, the one week that Eric won POV and could have used it to backdoor either of the eventual finalists, Dick and Daniele. Unfortunately, for Eric, he was told by production that he was not allowed to use it because there was not enough time for America to vote. If he had been able to use it to nominate one of the Donato’s, Eric would have been on a fast track to the final two, and more than likely would have won the game.

No Second Chance, or full on All Star season of Big Brother will be complete without Stein, and it is only a matter of time before he finally gets a second, or technically first, chance to play the game.
